On summer holiday, I walk about in the Hills of Sayama. It's not only because I cannot go far but also I deeply appreciate the miraculous area reserved in the border of the west of Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture. The Hills of Sayama keeps the natural environment which survived the rush of development. Walking for 30 t0 40 minutes, I find myself in the smells of plants and earth. Lake Tama was constructed for water supply, but the huge view of the water liberate my heart from all sorts of stresses. Today's update: the previous note (of July 29), the photo on the cover page (a water tower in Lake Tama), and the photo of this page (Pollia japonica, Sayama Park). In the unbearably severe heat of summer, plants are already showing the air of autumn.

I went to a concert of Women of Ireland with a friend of mine in my neighborhood. How long hadn't I been away from concerts of any kind? It was just exciting. Collaboration of vocal music, instrumental music, and dynamic Irish dance was overwhelming. Their performance was an excellent combination of Irish tradition and the modern world music. The collaboration was stylish and mysterious. It was the first Japan tour of Women of Ireland. They are not so well-known as Celtic Women, but I believe they are genuinely superb. They reminded me of my trip to Ireland on my own almost 34 years ago. I headed for Dublin, a city of my dream. That was the real epoch making action in my life.

After a long, long silence, I suddenly made up my mind to update this web site. The cover photo is no longer Mt. Fuji in shadow. It's a view from my office in Nagareyama, Chiba. The photo up here is a terrace in Motomachi Park, Hongo, Tokyo. Thanks, I'm surviving somehow. I'll write about my life by and by. Coming out from my hibernation, I find it's high summer. Helpless! Thank you very much for your visit.
